Living with dementia in Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire
Ellie realised there was no provision of supportive & fun activities for people living with dementia in Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire.
What’s it all about?
It has been scientifically proved that music creates feel-good hormones called endorphins, these make you feel good, but for people living with Dementia it is like a magic switch in the Brain. The music can break through the brain fog, reduce anxiety, depression and help engage a person into the moment, helping bring feelings of happiness, confidence & becoming engaged & energised, all through the power of music. It is a truly wonderful thing to witness, the utter joy that music and singing brings, its priceless !!!!!

Sing along With Ellie is an Award Winning Community Group ( now registered Charity ) that supports people living with all aspects of Dementia . We very proudly won the Community Group category of the BBC Radio Derby’s MAKE A DIFFERENCE AWARD 2024. There is a short video explaining this in more detail on the video page, please take a look to find out more.

Wonderful Ellie
Its always a pleasure to welcome Ellie into our care home. Our residents are brought to life with her wonderful voice, memories of the songs she sings and her gentle approach to engaging with them. Its like a musical has come into the home x x x
Woodlands Care Home Spion Kop- Remembrance Day
Ellie has entertained us before and once again today she worked her magic. Not just a talented singer, Ellie goes out of her way to engage and interact with her audience which is always well received. Her excellent choice of songs never fails to evoke memories, which results in everyone magically remembering the words to join in. For anyone closely connected to dementia I would thoroughly recommend Ellie and look forward to welcoming her back very soon. Dawn
